Johnny Knoxville will remain the ringleader of the iconic Jackass crew when the fifth film in the franchise hits theaters in June, he’s not going to be doing as many stunts as he used to. Knoxville will be avoiding stunts that could injure his head, in particular.
While filming 2022’s beloved Jackass Forever, Johnny Knoxville — the longtime face of the stunt comedy franchise — performed a stunt where he was gored by a bull, sending him flying through the air before landing on his head.
As a result of the stunt, Knoxville suffered a concussion (certainly not his first), a brain hemorrhage, a broken wrist and broken rib, and has since cited the injury as one that change his outlook on his future health. Thus, for Jackass 5, Knoxville said he couldn’t “do anything where he could get another concussion.”
Johnny Knoxville says he’ll be taking less risks in Jackass 5 because he cannot afford to suffer from another concussion
“I can’t do anything where I can get another concussion. [I’m] way over my limit for concussions, but I don’t care about anything else. I just can’t get hit in the head anymore — but a lot of other guys can,” Knoxville said on the Books That Changed My Life podcast about the recently announced fifth Jackass film.
After Jackass 5 was announced, reports indicated that longtime franchise fixture Bam Margera — who famously did not appear in Jackass Forever due to struggles in his personal life — would appear in the movie, albeit via “old and never-before-seen footage” being included in the new installment.
Jackass 5 will be released in theaters on Friday, June 26 and will reportedly feature both new material and never-before-seen archival footage.
