Some habits are just really hard to break. Even if it means going to jail. Again.
Case in point: A $167.3 million Kentucky Powerball winner has been charged with stealing $12,000 during a weekend home invasion.
According to LEX 18 News, security footage allegedly showed James Farthing, 51, breaking into a Lexington home, leading to his arrest on charges of second-degree burglary and marijuana possession on Saturday.
Farthing and his girlfriend at the time, Jacqueline Fightmaster, made news after winning the largest lottery prize ever awarded in the state of Kentucky last year when they were arrested in Pinellas County, Florida, for allegedly kicking a cop in the face and trying to fight customers at a bar. Farthing was charged with felony and misdemeanor charges, as well as parole violation, for his part in the fracas.
Prior to that arrest, the Powerball winner had previously been convicted of numerous charges. They include theft, receiving stolen property, escape, drug trafficking, promoting contraband, tampering with physical evidence, and engaging in an organized criminal syndicate.
This time around, according to LEX 18 News, Farthing drove off in a black Porsche before the police arrived at the scene. Around nine in the evening, police found Farthing in the Red Mile Gaming parking lot. Officers discovered an alleged marijuana blunt in Farthing’s car while he was being arrested. Additional marijuana was allegedly found when Farthing’s car was searched.
Earlier this month, Farthing entered a guilty plea to the Florida misdemeanor charges of battery and resisting an officer. He is also still facing an intimidation charge in Scott County and a hit-and-run charge in Fayette County.
