One woman and her mother are taking a stand against AI.
According to Local 12 Kentucky News, Delsia Bare and her mother, Ida Huddleston, turned down $26 million to convert their farm into an AI data center.
A Northern Kentucky woman and her mother have declined a $26 million offer to sell part of their farmland, saying they do not want it turned into a data center.
Ida Huddleston and her family own about 1,200 acres of farmland outside Maysville. Last April, an unnamed company approached them about purchasing roughly half the property for a proposed data center.
Bare says she turned down the offer because the farm has passed through several generations of her family.
“Stay and hold and feed a nation,” said Delsia Bare, Huddleston’s daughter. “$26 million doesn’t mean anything.”
“My grandfather and great-grandfather and a whole bunch of family have all lived here for years, paid taxes on it, fed a nation off of it,” she said. “Even raised wheat through the Depression and kept bread lines up in the United States of America when people didn’t have anything else.”
Huddleston agreed with her daughter’s decision not to sell the farm.
“They call us old stupid farmers, you know, but we’re not,” Huddleston said. “We know whenever our food is disappearing, our lands are disappearing, and we don’t have any water—and that poison. Well, we know we’ve had it.”
NEW: Kentucky family rejects $26 million offer to convert part of their farm into a data center despite the offer being about 10 times the going rate for farmland in the area.
“If it’s my way, I’ll stay and hold and feed a nation. 26 million doesn’t mean anything.”

Social media users on X applauded the Kentucky family for refusing to sell their farms to an AI firm.
There’s plenty who will mock them for not accepting it, but America was defined by those who didn’t take the easy route in order to sell its soul for a quick buck. https://t.co/VvKiLYZIpm
