There appears to be a bit of a rivalry brewing between the casts of this year’s films Mortal Kombat 2 and Street Fighter, at least based on the jabs being exchanged by Lewis Tan and Andrew Schulz.
While presenting at the Game Awards in December, Andrew Schulz — who will be starring in Street Fighter as Dan Hibiki when it hits theaters in October — took a shot the cast of Mortal Kombat 2, which releases in May.
“We’re not the only game that appreciates your patronage. There’s another game out there. They also flew from around the world to be here because they appreciate you, so give it up for the whole cast of Mortal Kombat 2,” Schulz said while on stage.
“I’m just kidding. They didn’t come. They don’t care about you. They only care about money, OK? We care about money and you… Street Fighter forever!”
Mortal Kombat 2’s Lewis Tan clowned on comedian and Street Fighter star Andrew Schulz for barely even being a real actor
Given the chance to respond to Schulz’s comments, Mortal Kombat 2 star Lewis Tan didn’t pull any punches (pun intended), as he described Schulz as “not even really” being an actor.
“Andrew Schulz is the last person that should be talking s— on that stage, you know what I’m saying? Obviously not a fighter, not even really an actor, really,” Tan said in an interview on Main Character.
Mortal Kombat 2 is a sequel to 2021’s Mortal Kombat, which also saw Tan star as Cole Young. In addition to Tan, Mortal Kombat 2 is also set to star Karl Urban, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Damon Herriman (in a different role), Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano, Joe Taslim, Hiroyuki Sanada, Adeline Rudolph, and Tati Gabrielle.
