Viral Tampa Bay TikToker “Lieutenant Dan”, real name Joseph Malinowski, allegedly once tried to set a woman on fire, according to reports.

Lieutenant Dan began going viral during Hurricane Milton because he planned to ride out the storm on his boat, and was ultimately successful (at least in terms of surviving).

“I have no fear. I don’t know what that means,” Malinowski said of his Hurricane Milton strategy. “I’m not scared about what happens. I have no aftermath planned. If the boat starts to sink, I’m going to swim away.”

As Lieutenant Dan went increasingly viral, however, more details about his sordid past were revealed, including allegations that he once tried to set a woman on fire.

“An offense report by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, exclusively obtained by The Post, claims on February 23, 2023, Malinowski was arguing with a woman named Sarah Perry as she was smoking a cigarette nearly 20 feet away with her brother and a friend.”

Malinowski poured gasoline on the concrete bench between them as she walked closer to the burning bench, while still holding a cigarette, according to the report. Malinowski then ‘walks with the crutches, picked up the red gasoline container and splashed Perry with Gasoline.'”

After TikTok user Terrence Concannon discovered Malinowski, a GoFundMe was set up for the one-legged sailor. However, he claims he has yet to receive the money.

Malinowski has been arrested numerous times in recent years and even served a year in prison after assaulting a police officer. He’s been arrested all over Florida, in towns such as Sarasota, Pinella, Hillsborough, Palm Beach, and Broward. His numerous mugshots have also been going viral on social media in recent weeks.
