A very short-lived police chase broke out in Los Angeles on Friday morning and it led to an unfortunate situation for the officers on the scene. They would not be very good at hide-and-seek.

The pursuit began shortly after 8:00 a.m. PST on Friday and Fox11’s Stu Mundel was live over the scene. He is the best in the business.

Police were responding to a stolen vehicle call and a silver, four-door mid-sized vehicle was involved in the chase. It didn’t last very long.

The driver was traveling at high speeds on the freeway before getting off onto the surface roads. As the driver continued to drive recklessly, he made contact with at least two other vehicles before rear-ending a third.

Despite severe damage to the front bumper, the driver kept going before colliding with another vehicle at a busy intersection. At that point, the foot chase began.

What happened next was very unusual and rather funny to watch unfold.

The driver got out of the car and ran into a nearby alleyway. Trying to hide from the police, he laid down and hid behind a parked car.

At that point, the officers in pursuit drove into the alley and hopped out of their cars. However, they ran right by the suspect.

After realizing their mistake, the officers turned back the other way and some of them ran by the suspect once again. Meanwhile, Mundel was losing his mind.

Eventually, the officers checked the vehicle behind which the suspect was hiding. On first look, they did not see him and kept looking.

Finally, after about a minute of panicked chaos, they looked to the right and put the suspect in cuffs. While it was rather embarrassing for the officers, they got the job done.

Additional details from the chase are not yet available, but the suspect is in custody.
