One of the Louvre robbery suspects is well-known for posting daredevil-like motocross videos on social media since the late 2000s. The man, identified as Abdoulaye N., is one of four people accused of the brazen theft.
The 39-year-old, nicknamed “Doudou Cross Bitume,” was one of three suspects arrested last week for the Louvre robbery. He faces charges of theft by an organized gang and criminal conspiracy.
According to the Daily Mail, Abdoulaye is from Aubervilliers and is a well–known figure in urban motocross circles. He goes by the nickname “The Motocross Legend” online. He has become well-known on social media since he first began posting videos on YouTube and DailyMotion in the early 2000s.
In the videos, he performs stunts on his motorcycle around Paris landmarks, including the Champs–Élysées and the Trocadéro. More recently, he has been posting his videos to TikTok and Instagram but has been silent on those channels since September.
Multiple suspects are in custody, but there is no sign of the stolen jewels
Abdoulaye and the other alleged thieves stole over $100 million worth of crown jewels from the Louvre Museum. While three of the men allegedly involved in the robbery are currently in custody, the location of the jewels is still a mystery.
Investigators reportedly found DNA belonging to Abdoulaye on one of the display cases and on items left at the scene of the crime. Authorities reportedly believe he was one of two men who broke into the Apollo gallery using power tools.
He is also seen riding a Yamaha TMax in several of his social media videos. That is the same make of scooter the thieves used in their getaway.
The Guardian reports that Paris prosecutor, Laure Beccuau, said Abdoulaye had “partially admitted” his involvement in the Louvre heist to police. He has a previous conviction on his record for robbing a jewelry store in 2014. Another suspect in the Louvre heist, who is in custody, was also convicted for the same robbery.
