Very few people know how to eat like the folks down at LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Bayou Bengals take their game day food very seriously and the spread at Tiger Stadium never dissapoints.
Although there is plenty of delicious grub to consume at tailgates all across campus, those who pay up for access to the Stadium Club have it made. And if they’re lucky, the reporters on-site usually get to enjoy the spread as well!
On Saturday, as LSU hosted Arkansas, the menu was to die for.
No matter the opponent, “stadium club standards” remain the same every week:
- Chicken and Andouille Gumbo with Rice
- Smoked Boudin
- Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs with Chili
- Nachos with Queso
- Ice Cream Novelties
- Assorted Cookies
- Scooped Ice Cream with a Variety of Toppings
All pretty standard stadium food, with a Lousiana twist up top. But that’s not all!
Each week, the menu features rotational specials and this week’s spread was top-tier. It also happened to be about as cajun as it comes.
- Crawfish Etouffée
- Pepperjack Boudin Egg Rolls with Garlic Buttermilk Dip
- Crawfish Boulettes with Remoulade
- Spanish Rice
- Zucchini with Tomatoes, Corn, and Cheese
- Cilantro Lime Slaw
- Spinach and Feta Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette
And that was not all! There was also a macaroni and cheese bar with andouille, crawfish, and all of the fixins. (If you don’t know what any of that stuff is, you need to get to the Pelican State ASAP!)
There was also one very subtle, but savage menu option. The Tigers were facing the Razorbacks — a pig. Tiger Stadium served… carnitas.
Is it a hilarious coincidence? Perhaps. But with that being said, knowing the savagery of the SEC, it is very possible that LSU’s catering team looked at the schedule and intentionally chose to serve pork.
Tigers fans will be eating the Hogs while watching their team (hopefully) do the same on the field!
