Woman Asks Boyfriend To Move In With Her. Now People Are Saying He Found The ‘Deal Of A Lifetime’ After She Reveals The Catch

A woman shared that she offered her boyfriend a place to live rent-free in the home she owns to avoid being his “landlord.” Other TikTokers reacted to her generous proposal, debating whether he should pay rent or not.

TikToker Erin Confortini posted a reply to one of her commenters, explaining more details about her living situation with her partner. She has since deleted the viral video from her page, although many accounts reposted it.

“He’s moving in with me to the house that I own,” she says. “I’m not interested in being his landlord.”

Instead of splitting the cost of her $2,600 per month mortgage, she says she told him that he can put the money in his savings account.

“I bought this house on my own because I could afford it on my own,” she continues. “At the end of the day, we’re moving in together because we want to be together forever. At some point in the near future, everything is going to be combined anyway.”

How Did TikTokers React To The Couple’s Rent Arrangement?

In a video with over 214,000 views, TikToker KAYB (@prettyboykayb1) posted a clip of the now-deleted video with some thoughts of his own.

“Imagine being a grown man, and you basically don’t even have to pay rent,” he says, laughing. “Your girl is literally allowing you to save up. She doesn’t even know if y’all are going to be together forever.”

The TikToker praises the man’s new financial situation, saying he’s “living life.” However, he wonders if Confortini is “rage-baiting.”

“Personally, I wouldn’t allow her to do that because I would think there’s some type of catch,” he says. “And I would feel bad as a man.”

In the caption he joked, “Anyone offering free housing? Asking for a friend not me.”

Would Other Men Live Rent-Free With Their Girlfriends?

In the comments of KAYB’s video, other men shared how they would respond to a similar offer from their partners.

“I don’t even know how he’s comfortable doing that,” one wondered.

A second commenter shared a differing opinion on the arrangement, writing, “It’s like getting bitcoin in 2010 type of feeling. Pray we all get to experience this.”

“I think she’s generous and caring but couldn’t be me,” another remarked.

Women in the comments shared how they would handle the division of finances in Confortini’s situation.

“Girl take his $1,300 and pay off your mortgage early,” a viewer suggested.

“I can understand not wanting someone else to pay you mortgage on your house. However!!!! He will still be paying me that $1300 for other household expenses,” another offered.

Members of the r/AskWomanOver30 offered their advice for having a partner move into a home they own. Many recommended asking their partner to pay for some sort of expense or come up with a written agreement.

“He wants to move in so he doesn’t have to pay rent. Ask him outright how much he’s thinking of contributing and watch him squirm,” a commenter said.

Another warned, “When you do decide to let him move in, check the tenancy laws in your area. Make sure he has no claim to your property upon a breakup, and that you can get him out of your house.”

“Of course he needs to pay rent. It’s not you profiting off him, it’s him adequately compensating you for providing him a place to live,” a third added.
