A woman overheard her upstairs neighbors on a Margaritaville Cruise engaging in adult activities on the balcony. She warned others about the lack of privacy on the cruise balconies in a now-viral TikTok.
TikToker and cruise travel influencer Kassidy (@kj.cruisin) stands on the balcony of her Margaritaville at Sea cruise in Tampa, Fla., warning other travelers to be careful about what they do on theirs.
She references a previous viral video in which she posted her suite neighbors making adult noises on the balcony. Viewers debated in the comments whether it’s appropriate to engage in such activities on the balconies.
“People were fighting in the comments, like, ‘That’s what balconies are for,'” she says. “No, they’re not.”
She points out that cruise ship suites are stacked “like apartment buildings,” meaning neighbors can often see or hear each other.
“And yes, there are for sure cameras that can see onto your balcony. Sound travels like crazy,” she explains. “If you wouldn’t do it on a hotel balcony with 4,000 strangers and kids stacked around you, don’t do it here.”
Have Others Overheard Private Moments On The Balcony?
In the comments of Kassidy’s viral videos, other cruise-goers said they’ve had awkward run-ins with their suite neighbors on cruises, too.
“My boyfriend and I fell asleep on the balcony after a full day in the DR and we both woke up seeing our neighbors bouncing through the frosted glass,” one wrote.
Another shared, “It’s okay, I was on Freedom and taking a nap, when my neighbours started on the balcony. And I hear, ‘Quiet down Shannon the girl next door will hear you?’ I wanted to yell that I could… I went and took a nap in my nana’s room.”
“That’s nothing my Balcony was above one of the jacuzzis during the whole week seen and heard two different couples,” a third added.
Others pointed out that guests who want to have sex on the cruise ship balcony can opt for adults-only cruises. These themed cruises may allow sexual activity on balconies when the ship is at sea.
“Go on the Bliss cruise. Sex on the balconies is permitted when out at Sea,” a commenter suggested. Kassidy replied, “Yes exactly!! Go on a cruise made for this!!”
What Happens If You Hear Your Cruise Neighbors?
According to Cruise Critic, guests should generally start by complaining to the cabin steward about the noise rather than confronting the noisy neighbors themselves. This usually results in the cruise’s security staff knocking on the door and telling them to keep it down.
If the cruise spots the inappropriate balcony behavior on the cameras itself, Redditors suggest the guests may be blacklisted or removed from the boat.
“I work for a cruise company. If you get caught and reported including on your own balcony, you’ll be removed off the cruise and potentially blacklisted,” one wrote. “It’s much more intelligent to have sex on your bed with the balcony door open.”
“So, I was an officer on a cruise ship for a while. Please note that there are, indeed, cameras literally everywhere for liability purposes, most with overlapping coverage,” a second noted on r/Cruise.
@kj.cruisin Go on an adults only cruise if you want to have adult fun 🙂↕️ #cruisetok #cruiselife #cruise #cruisevlog #cruisebalcony
