Legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese is teaming up with Billions co-creator Brian Koppelman to bring an eight-episode miniseries to Netflix. The series will be set in a familiar setting for Scorsese, as the show will be about the present-day casino business in Las Vegas.
The iconic 83-year-old director previously explored the underbelly of Las Vegas with his 1995 film Casino, which starred Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Sharon Stone. This new series will have not attachment to that film, however.
According to reports, this still-untitled series from Scorsese and Koppelman will be set in the modern day and will center on Robert ‘Bobby Red’ Redman, “president of the hottest hotel casino in town.”

Scorsese — who has been in talks with Netflix about doing a series since collaborating on The Irishman will serve as executive producer.
At this time, no actors are attached to the project, and there is no indication of when production will begin.

“The eight-episode drama is set in the high-stakes, sharp-elbowed present-day Las Vegas casino business, which is a modernized but still dangerous version of the legendary city. At the center of it stands Robert “Bobby Red” Redman, president of the hottest hotel casino in town, who has to make some long odds moves to try and secure his position and take more ground.”
“A period take was initially developed. Netflix subsequently brought in Koppelman and Levien who had an idea for a present-day casino drama which was put into development, leading to the series greenlight.” [via Deadline]
Scorsese is next set to begin production of his adaption of the novel What Happens At Night, which will co-star Academy Award winning actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.
