Arrests have been made in connection to the death of late Friends star Matthew Perry, according to reports.

Matthew Perry, beloved for his portrayal of Chandler Bing on the iconic NBC sitcom Friends, passed away from an accidental ketamine overdose at the age of 54 years old in October 2023.

At this time, the identities of the arrested individuals have not been revealed.  ABC News reports that five people, including two doctors, were arrested in Southern California on the morning of Thursday, August 15.

The indictment in the arrest claims that Perry was obtaining ketamine from the two charged doctors but when it became too expensive, a federal source says he began buying from a woman known as the “Ketamine Queen of Los Angeles”

NBC News reports that “federal prosecutors are expected to unseal an indictment later in the day [August 15] detailing the allegations against that individual and the others.”

“Los Angeles police said in May that they were working with federal authorities to investigate the source of the ketamine Perry had consumed. Perry had been undergoing ketamine infusion therapy to treat depression and anxiety, but his last session took place more than a week prior to his death. The medical examiner noted that the ketamine in Perry’s system ‘could not be from that infusion therapy’ given its short half-life.” [via NBC News]

In addition to Friends, Perry was also known for his work in the TV series Ally McBeal, The West Wing, and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and films such as Fools Rush In (alongside Salma Hayek), The Whole Nine Yards (and its sequel The Whole Ten Yards), and 17 Again alongside Zac Efron, which was his final feature film performance as a character other than himself.
