Melania, the Brett Ratner directed documentary about former model and current First Lady Melania Trump, is shaping up to be one of the biggest bombs in the history of the art form known as cinema. While the film premieres in over 2,000 movie theaters on Friday, seemingly just handfuls of tickets have been sold.
According to reports, at Vue’s flagship Islington branch in London, a mere few tickets for the Melania Trump documentary have been sold: ONE for the Friday at 3:10 p.m. screening, and TWO for the 6 p.m. slot. Furthermore, NO tickets have been sold from the 28 planned screenings at the Blackburn, Castleford and Hamilton locations.
The film isn’t fairing much better in deep-red norther Florida nor left-leaning San Francisco, either.

Out of curiosity, just checked Cinemark site 10 theaters in the SF Bay Area for showings of @MelaniaTrump movie. Not a single ticket sale that I can find. pic.twitter.com/ZMYbKYHzmn

It’s the same story in Boston and essentially every other movie theater across the country. I just pulled up screenings for the film in New York City, too, and ticket sales are similarly pathetic, with just TWO being sold for the 3:40 showing at the 34th Street AMC on Friday (at the time of this writing).

Furthermore, according to Rolling Stone, “two-thirds of Melania’s New York crew requested that their names not be added to the film’s credits,” with crew members now saying they hope it flops.
It’s also worth noting that the documentary was funded by Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos to a reported tune of $40-$70 million. Similarly, director Brett Ratner is now suddenly attached to a fourth Rush Hour film at Paramount following pressure from Donald Trump. All just a giant coincidence, we’re sure.
