Michael Strahan is choosing not to acknowledge an ongoing controversy surrounding his decorum during the national anthem on Fox’s Veterans Day broadcast from the naval base in San Diego. People who are upset with the Pro Football Hall of Famer do not deserve his energy.
Instead, Strahan honored our military men and women with a heartfelt post on Instagram.
His father, Maj. Gene W. Strahan Sr., passed away in 2020 at the age of 83. He served 23 years in the Army as a proud member of the 82nd Airborne Division. Michael is very proud of his father.
Unfortunately, the comment section on Strahan’s post is infiltrated with morons. There is a very small vocal minority of people who believe the New York Giants legend is an unpatriotic traitor who hates America because he did not put his hand over his heart during the national anthem on Sunday.
Michael Strahan will not stoop to their level.
As is tradition, Fox hosted its NFL pregame show from a military base on Veterans Day weekend. It is one of the coolest traditions in sports media that always does a great job of honoring soldiers past, present and future.

These TD dances from the sailors at Naval Base San Diego are awesome 👏 pic.twitter.com/Po5n0GSRMw
Strahan, Terry Bradshaw and the rest of the crew also participated in Navy SEAL training earlier in the week to gain a better understanding of the sacrifice and the grind.

All of this goes to say that Fox does a really incredible job with its Veterans Day broadcast. There is the utmost respect involved with every segment. It is a great honor for everyone involved with the show.
Unfortunately, imbeciles on the internet took issue with Strahan’s stance during the national anthem that concluded the broadcast because his hand was not over his heart. They actually tried to cancel him for it.

Fortunately, not all hope in society is lost. People spoke out in defense of Strahan, including multiple most military veterans.

It’s not that big a deal and people that are offended are try hardsStrahan is a gem of a human

Also not that it even matters but his dad served 23 years. He was a military brat. Please shut uppppp

— Matthew Cothron
As a veteran I can assure you there is absolutely nothing wrong with this. He is standing respectfully.

Michael Strahan is choosing not to acknowledge all of the backlash and for good reason. The people who are upset because he stood firm at attention do not deserve his recognition.
As the son of a 23-year army veteran, Strahan is deeply proud and grateful of our veterans and as am I. Thank you for your service.
