Academy Award-nominated actor Mickey Rourke has launched a GoFundMe page in order to avoid being evicted from his rented Los Angeles home. The 73-year-old is seeking nearly $60,000 in donations.

The GoFundMe page — “Support Mickey to Prevent Eviction” — was launched by Liya-Joelle Jones on Sunday, January 4. Jones is Mickey Rourke’s friend and a member of his management team.

According to the donation page, the money contributed will be put towards “immediate housing-related expenses and prevent eviction,” with Rourke apparently owing $59,100 in owed rent.

Oscar-nominated actor Mickey Rourke has turned to GoFundMe seeking $59,100 in donation money to pay back owed rent

“Mickey Rourke is currently facing a very difficult and urgent situation: he is at risk of being evicted from his home. Life doesn’t always move in a straight line, and despite everything Mickey has given through his work and his life, he is now dealing with a challenging financial moment that has put his housing at risk,” the description of the GoFundMe reads.

“The goal is to give Mickey some stability and peace of mind during a stressful time so he can stay in his home and have the space to get back on his feet. Any donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference.”

The Los Angeles Times previously reported that Rourke received an eviction notice on Thursday, December 18. Rourke has been at the rented L.A. home — described on Zillow as being a bedroom, two-bathroom “nicely upgraded Spanish Bungalow” — since March 2025, when he signed a lease for $5,200 per month.

The LA Times‘ reporting adds that his monthly rent was later raised to $7,000. At $7,000 per month, ~$59,000 represents about eight months in unpaid rent.

“Mickey is going through a very difficult time right now, and it’s been incredibly touching to see how many people care about him and want to help,” Jones said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

Rourke broke through in the 1990s with his roles in films such as Heaven’s Gate, Body Heat, Diner, Rumble Fish, The Pope of Greenwich Village, 9½ Weeks, Angel Heart and more.

After dabbling in professional boxing in the early 1990s, Rourke returned to acting in 1994 and subsequently starred in movies such as Get Carter, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Man on Fire, Sin City, Domino, Iron Man 2, and The Expendables.

The most notable role of Rourke’s career came in 2008 when he starred in Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler, which saw him get nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor.
