- The first reactions to Marvel Studios’ ‘Moon Knight’ have hit the internet.
- Moon Knight stars Oscar Isaac as the titular hero.
- The series will begin streaming on Disney+ on Wednesday, March 30.
Despite not premiering for another 12 days (at the time of this writing), the first reactions to the upcoming Marvel Studios series Moon Knight have hit the internet. And in my experience, the earlier a reaction embargo for a project lifts, the better.
Having seen the first four (of six) episodes, journalistic and critics have been largely positive thus far, praising the series’ relatively different — at least in relation to the MCU — tone. While Moon Knight is still ultimately a Marvel series and made to be enjoyed by all ages, it does appear to be darker than the typical MCU outing.
If nothing else, Moon Knight is set to be a first for the MCU as it’s the first Disney+ to introduce a new hero into the fold.
#MoonKnight Ep.1 is fascinating because not only are we learning this character’s origin story, but he is too.
There’s a Venom element to the split personalities, but it’s far less goofy and wades into light horror – even the first Moon Knight unveiling plays like a horror film. pic.twitter.com/5SXRe44EzG

Moon Knight is banana pants CRAZY & heart-poundingly intense! Loved every second of the 1st 4 episodes. Oscar Isaac = incredible, Ethan Hawke = terrifying. Unlike any Marvel show. Can't get enough. Epic soundtrack, score, visuals & action. It’s DARK. Fave Marvel show! #MoonKnight pic.twitter.com/39BcstEc4s

The first 4 episodes of #MoonKnight are phenomenal. The performances are fantastic across the board—especially Oscar Isaac.
Hawke’s Arthur Harrow is excellently written; easily the strongest Disney+ villain to date.
It’s dark, scary, mind-bending, and deliciously different. pic.twitter.com/Z9NvDMFHvd

Just got done watching the first 4 episodes of #MoonKnight and MAN IS IT GOOD. The cast are all fantastic! Ethan Hawke and May Calamway are great, but Isaac STEALS the show. The action is great and the story really draws you in. A lot of Indians Jones and The Mummy vibes.

The first episode of #MoonKnight is everything I want in this show. It’s everything we love about what the MCU can do, but goes way beyond it and positions it as one of the most unique shows/properties that we’ve seen. Isaac is great and Konshu is FANTASTIC. pic.twitter.com/BvQYl5bihv

The first episode of #MoonKnight is a BLAST! Super weird & wild, and I’m already IN LOVE with Oscar Isaac’s performance. I’m a big fan of dry, awkward British humor & the mix of that with the psychological thriller elements really give it a unique feel from other MCU shows pic.twitter.com/OUbYEOAdHY

#MoonKnight is really good. Episodes 1 & 4 are my favorites.
Oscar Isaac is great as Steven & Marc. Costumes look fantastic.
It’s definitely Marvel’s darkest and scariest. The mysteries kept me really engaged and it plays a lot like a movie! Can’t wait to see 5 & 6. pic.twitter.com/tozAPuqtMT

#MoonKnight is so far the best & most different Marvel show yet. It’s intriguing, dark, thrilling Oscar Isaac is the best addition to the MCU since Phase 1 & brings a performance that isn’t just torturing but addicting to watch. It really is Indiana Jones meets fight club. pic.twitter.com/AHfU5Vj6kY

I've seen the first 4 episodes of #MoonKnight and HOLY SHIT. Equal parts action, dark horror fantasy, and treasure hunting adventure – it's unlike anything we've seen in the MCU so far. pic.twitter.com/JF97gWVcLO

Moon Knight will be the first Marvel Cinematic Universe series to hit Disney+ in 2022, following a 2021 that saw five original MCU series hit the streaming service. As mentioned above, June will see the premiere of Ms. Marvel, while She-Hulk — which is rumored to feature appearances from Charlie Cox’s Daredevil — is also scheduled to release in 2022.
The MCU’s 2022 Disney+ slate doesn’t end there, as the second season of What If…?, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, and the Samuel L. Jackson-starring Secret Invasion are also expected to drop this year. As for the film side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is next up, as it hits theaters on May 5. That’ll be followed by Thor: Love and Thunder on July 8 and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on November 11.
In addition to Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke, Moon Knight stars May Calamawy in an undisclosed role. The series will premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday, March 30.
