A woman says that she had to start therapy after cracking open an energy drink and discovering a dead animal inside.
In a video with over 1.1 million views, TikTok user @trumatizedbadde says that she “started EMDR therapy because I drunk a dead animal in my drink.”
“I was drinking a drink, and I never knew that it was anything in that drink until I drunk it down some, and I discovered that it was a dead mouse in my drink,” she recalls.
This experience, she says, left her so traumatized that she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD.
“This situation has ruined my whole existence,” she states. “Like, I’m supposed to be on a beach right now, splurging the money that I worked so hard to get. But instead, I haven’t been able to work. I haven’t been able to f—— focus. I’ve been so f—– up since that day.”
Now, she says she is beginning EMDR therapy in order to deal with what happened.
“I started a new therapy … and it’s called EMDR,” the TikToker shares. “It’s like a memory therapy. It’s supposed to help the sensory from the memory get something that’s tolerable for me, because I have outbursts.”
Have Mice Been Found In Energy Drink Cans?
Seeing this, some may be shocked by the idea of a dead animal being found in an energy drink can.
For those people, the TikToker posted a video with evidence showing that she did, in fact, find a small animal in her drink.
However, skeptics should know that there are multiple documented cases of people finding dead animals in cans of soda.
One name that kept coming up in the comments section was “Alani Nu.” The TikToker does not seem to have directly confirmed whether this was the brand that sold her the offending can. That said, commenters may have thought of the brand due to multiple viral stories in which mice were found in their products.
For example, in October 2024, a woman opened an Alani Nu can and drank part of it. When she returned to the can later, she emptied it out—only to discover it contained a mouse. Another woman also found an animal in her Alani Nu can that same year. Several other videos purporting to show mice in Alani Nu cans have gone viral in the years since.
No one is exactly sure how these alleged incidents happened. Many believe that it could have entered the can before it was seamed and thus been trapped inside, though there is no official confirmation that this is the case.
What Is EMDR Therapy?
According to the TikToker, she is using EMDR therapy to help her overcome the trauma of finding a dead mouse in her drink.
For context, EMDR stands for “eye movement desensitization and reprocessing.” Compared to other PTSD therapies, EMDR is relatively new, only having its first official trials in 1989.
To put it simply, the goal of EMDR is, in part, to shift a trauma memory from something that the patient actively experiences to simply another memory. This means that, if they experience a trigger, they may remember the traumatic memory, but they will not “relive” it.
No one knows why EMDR therapy works, but studies show that it’s incredibly effective. A 2014 meta-analysis of multiple studies found that EMDR therapy was effective in treating not only PTSD but depression and anxiety as well.
Commenters Are Horrified
In the comments section, users expressed their shock at the TikToker’s story.
“Now I don’t even want a canned drink anymore omg,” wrote a user.
“I would sue the s— out of the company. I’m traumatized for you. I am so sorry this happened to you,” offered another.
“And people think I’m crazy because I refuse to drink out of bottles that are not clear or consume drinks from the can,” shared a third.
