Neve Campbell returns as Sidney Prescott in the first trailer for Scream 7 and, as has been the case since 1996, Courtney Cox’s Gale Weathers is right there with her.

Also returning to the film franchise for Scream 7 are David Arquette, Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley (despite their characters all being dead), as well as Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown. Not returning, however, are the stars of the past two Scream films, Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. Barrera was reportedly dropped from the seventh film in the series due to some inflammatory social media posts. Ortega reportedly can’t return due to a scheduling conflict with her Netflix show Wednesday.

New to the film franchise for the seventh installment are actors Isabel May (who plays Sidney Prescott’s daughter Tatum), Joel McHale (who plays Sid’s husband Mark), Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Anna Camp, Mark Consuelos, and Ethan Embry. Original Scream writer Kevin Williamson will serve as the director for film number seven.

“It’s been nearly 30 years since my very first script, Scream, was directed by the legendary Wes Craven,” Williamson wrote on Instagram. “I never would have predicted what it would become. Or that I would be directing the seventh installment of the franchise. I am overcome with gratitude and excitement, and I can’t wait to take this journey with Neve and the entire Scream family as we bring back Sidney Prescott in the next chapter of the Scream franchise. Thank you to all the Scream fans. You are the gift that keeps giving.”

Neve Campbell, who has been in all of the Scream films except for one, did not appear in the sixth installment after, as she said, “The offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.”

In the first trailer for Scream 7, yet another person who supposedly knows Sidney Prescott dons the Ghostface mask to torment her and her family one more time. The film is scheduled to hits theaters on Feb. 27, 2026.
