‘I Would Have Called The Cops Cause WHATTT’: New Jersey Woman Goes On A First Date At A Bar. Then He Racks Up A $450 Bill—And Dips

A first date is always a gamble—you never really know who’s sitting across from you until they show you.

For one New Jersey woman, that moment came midway through a first date that ended in a hefty bill and a disappearing act.

Woman Says She Got Stood Up Mid-Date

TikTok creator Andi (@andimitchellll) posted a short video from her car shortly after her date, clearly still trying to process what happened. Her clip has since pulled in over 220,000 views.

“I just went on a date with a man,” she begins. “And then this other girl walks into the bar, and he leaves.”

Andi explains that she got up to use the bathroom, and when she came back, her date was acting off. “He goes, ‘Yeah, I’m gonna go,’” she says.

She then steps outside, where the bartender informs her of what happened. “The bartender, who I’m very good friends with because my best friend works at this bar, is like, ‘Yeah, he just left,’” she recalls.

“I cannot do it,” she exclaims. “I can’t date men anymore.”

Has Chivalry Completely Disappeared?

According to a New York Post report, the debate over whether chivalry still exists is far from settled.

Once rooted in medieval codes of conduct for knights, the modern idea of chivalry is supposed to mean gestures of respect—holding doors open, walking someone to their car, or things like not abandoning a woman mid-date.

But when Australian reporters asked people if chivalry was still alive, most women said they rarely see it. Some said it’s not totally dead, just “changing.” The newer version looks less like holding a door and more like sending a playlist or checking if someone got home safe.

Men, however, largely believe they are being chivalrous—it’s just that women no longer notice or interpret it the same way. That disconnect has become a cultural flashpoint, surfacing every time a viral clip shows someone being rude in public.

The consensus seems to match what Andi’s story hints at on Reddit as well. One user wrote, “Extinct? No. Endangered? Yes.” Another described how regional norms make things even messier, saying that on the West Coast, women sometimes get offended if men open doors for them.

Commenters Can’t Believe The $450 Tab

On TikTok, Andi’s audience couldn’t get over the total.

“$450? What are you ordering lol,” one user wrote.

Another urged her to take legal action, writing, “Just pay yours and have them call the cops? I mean, you have his name, right?”

Others found irony in the situation. “Doesn’t feel good, does it? Welcome to our world,” one person commented, implying that women often leave men footing the bill.

“U expected this dude to pay $450 on a date omg lol,” another wrote.
