New Jersey Woman Shoots Her Shot With Olympian Amber Glenn. Then Glenn Responds

Sliding into a gold medalist’s comments is one thing. Doing it publicly in a TikTok takes guts.

One New Jersey vet tech’s playful “application” to become a figure skater’s “boo thing” has the internet fully invested. And guess who popped up in the comments section?

Skating Fan Submits Her Love Application

In a viral video with more than 3 million views, content creator Kaitlin Rock (@kaitlinrock0) made her case directly to gold medal-winning figure skater Amber Glenn.

The video opens outside in a snowy field, with Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me” playing.

“As you can see, I live in the north,” she says. “Cold weather for prolonged periods of time—not an issue. We love the cold.”

From there, she moves indoors, leaning against a table in her work scrubs at an angle that conveniently shows off her tattooed arm. She flags her “three ‘Star Wars’ tattoos”—and a “Naruto” one for good measure. (Glenn is a self-described “Star Wars” and anime fan. Both are listed in her official Team USA Olympic bio. Rock clearly did her research.)

Rock wraps things up with a direct message to Glenn:

“Amber, if you are still watching at this point, Mira and I really just wanna wish you luck on your Olympic adventure this year,” she says while giving her cat a treat.

“We are so proud to have you as our representation out there on the ice doing your thing. You are incredible to watch, all that power, all that force. Go out there. Give it your best. We are proud of you no matter what. I speak for a lot of us when I say that. Great job. Good luck.”

“Shooting my shot at gold medal standards,” she added in the caption.

Glenn saw the video and dropped a comment: “This video and these comments are everything.”

“Hahaha I love TikTok! We’re just staying respectful,” Rock wrote. “At the end of the day I’m a stranger on the internet to her! But I love the support, will keep you posted on how things develop.”

The internet, for its part, has already started workshopping the ship name. “Kamber” appears to be the frontrunner.

“So what you’re saying is one of the wedding colors is gold?” one commenter wrote. “If this isn’t your dating announcement I’m gonna be a little disappointed,” another said.

Who Is Amber Glenn?

For those who haven’t been glued to the Milano Cortina Games, Glenn is having a moment. The 26-year-old Texas native made history at these Olympics as the first openly queer woman to compete in Olympic women’s singles figure skating. She identifies as pansexual.

As OutSports noted, it’s a milestone that represents “a cultural and historical shift” in a sport where queer women have long been invisible at the highest levels. She arrived in Milan as a three-time consecutive U.S. champion, the first American woman to do that since Michelle Kwan.

She’s also been one of the more outspoken athletes at these Games. At a Feb. 4 Olympic press conference, when asked about the Trump administration’s stance toward the LGBTQ+ community, Glenn didn’t hedge.

“It isn’t the first time that we’ve had to come together as a community and try to fight for our human rights,” she said. “Now, especially, it’s not just affecting the queer community, but many other communities, and I think that we are able to support each other in a way we didn’t have to before, and because of that, it’s made us a lot stronger.”

She made clear she had no plans to tone it down. “It is something that I will not just be quiet about, because it is something that affects us in our everyday lives,” she said.

The backlash was swift. On Feb. 8, Glenn announced a social media break after receiving what she described, per them., as “a scary amount of hate/threats for simply using my voice when asked.”

More Commenters React

“I love it when women,” a person said.

“I hope y’all go on a date!” another wrote.

“SHOOT YOUR SHOT MEDICAL QUEEN!!!” a commenter added.
