Comedian Nikki Glaser returned as the host of the Golden Globes this year and put forth another respectable performance as the night’s MC. While appearing on The Howard Stern Show in the aftermath, Glaser revealed some of the jokes that didn’t make the cut.

One of the celebrities that escaped Nikki Glaser’s crosshairs was Sydney Sweeney, as Glaser revealed the joke about the actress that she cut from the broadcast, deeming it to be “too mean.” The crux of Glaser’s joke was about Sweeney’s recent struggles at the box office, particularly her awards-bait movie Christy, which made just $2 million at the box office despite featuring the generational sex symbol beating people up and, as Glaser put it, “bounced around in tiny shorts.”

Comedian Nikki Glaser has revealed the joke about Sydney Sweeney’s box office failures that she cut from her Golden Globes monologue

“Tonight is a night of celebration but we can’t ignore that it’s a weird time in Hollywood. People just aren’t going to the theater to see things. If you don’t believe me, there was a movie this year where Sydney Sweeney played a lesbian who just bounced around in tiny shorts for two hours and it made $14,” Glaser told Stern.

Sweeney has sine rebounded at the box office with the release of The Housemaid, though, as it’ll likely make over $200 million at the global box office (against a $25 million budget) and has already resulted in a sequel being greenlit. Prior to that, though, her previous three 2025 releases — Christy, Eden, and Americana — made less than $5 million combined at the box office, hence Glaser’s planned barb.

After the much-needed success of The Housemaid, Sweeney will next be seen in The Devil Wears Prada 2 in a cameo roll, potentially even playing herself. She’ll also star in the third and final season of HBO’s hit series Euphoria.
