An Ohio woman braved indoor skydiving at iFLY but lied about her weight on the sign-in form. She warned others not to make the same mistake.
TikToker BreAsia (@biqqbre) shared a clip from her 2019 iFLY experience, garnering over 2.6 million views. In it, she wears a black skydiving suit and hovers low in the cage with an instructor by her side.
The instructor tries to hold her over the fan, which is supposed to lift her. However, she tries to grip the side walls, as she has a hard time maintaining her position.
On-screen text reads, “That time I almost took the instructor out bc I lied ab my weight on the iFLY form.”
The caption continues, “Just was flying low going nowhere.”
Should You Be Honest About Your Weight At iFLY?
iFLY participants should be honest about their weight to make sure the instructor can safely accommodate them during the experience. Some locations may even ask customers to step onto a scale, according to previous participants.
iFLY’s website notes that the indoor skydiving chain has strict weight limits for the experience. Instructors may not be able to work with customers who weigh more than 260 pounds. But some locations may be able to make an exception. However, the chain has a hard upper limit of 300 lbs.
Plus, high flights, which allow customers to move higher in the tube, are only available to those who weigh less than 260 lbs.
What Did Viewers Think of Her Lie?
In the comments, viewers questioned why BreAsia felt the need to lie about her weight while filling out the forms.
“Why did you think this was a good time to be lying about such a thing?” one asked.
Another said, “On dangerous things we got to tell the truth lol.”
“Why would u even lie about that its not just so they can judge u its literally for safety,” a third wrote.
BreAsia clarified in a comment that the location she went to didn’t make her stand on the scale and instead told her she could fly as long as she “fit the suit.”
“I still was able to fit the suit & MIGHT SAID I was 25 lbs less than what I weighed,” she wrote. “I still enjoyed myself even if it was a short amount of time.”
Others shared their experience with iFLY workers asking for their weights.
“When I went i said my weight and they whiped out the scale I was like omg I hope im right,” a commenter recounted.
“Mine had scales there for this reason,” a second remarked.
“PLZZZ they pulled the scale on me when I went and then they’re like okay good to go,” another shared.
