If You’ve Ever Ordered More Than 1 Drink At A Restaurant, Your Server May Hate You: ‘God Forbid You Do Your Job’

Hate is a pretty strong word, but everyone’s surely used it once or twice to describe a small, persistent, and unavoidable irritant. However, Willa Mina (@hydee624), a server, has got a seemingly inexhaustible and ongoing list of “pet peeves.”

But with 3.9 million views and over 6,200 comments, her position against multiple beverages per person at a table is generating lots of buzz. It’s one of the most viewed videos on her page, which details excerpts from her professional and personal life.

List Of Grievances

In this “pet peeve” video, the hook from Brittany Spears’ “Toxic” plays in the background as a person (presumably Mina) sets up two drinks. The drinks: a cola and a water. The in-screen text underscores her position: “Server pet peeve, multiple drinks per person.”

What’s the problem with more than one liquid per person? As Mina explains in the caption, “This is a shout out for all who get water and another drink then don’t touch the water, ever.”

Thirst Trap

This seems like a small thing—water to wash down the meal. But let’s be real: We all know that person or are that multi-beverage problem. So an explanation is in order. That comes from the Facebook page, “Restaurant Warriors,” There’s a thread that seems to explain why a server might feel peeved at a super thirsty customer.

“People order a soda and a water and I’m like sweet, this will be easy. Then they proceed to order 5 more sodas and don’t touch the water. Like, bro, this isn’t the bar. Go ahead and drink that water you ordered,” said an anonymous participant.

And a few self-admittedly guilty parties do out themselves. “When I order a water and forget about it I will always chug down at least half before I leave so that the server and I both don’t feel like I wasted their time. Same with side sauces. Asked for an extra side? You better eat that lol,” says Seann Vickers.

Water, Water Everywhere

The internet has a lot of deep feelings about Mina’s beverage position. And honestly, she isn’t getting much support. Everyone seems to expect fresh water at the table. And she’s getting pretty roasted in the comments.

“Firefighter pet peeve… when people call 911,” Pfrmdabando (@Pfrmdabando) clapped back.

Many commenters implied supplying water is a bare-minimum task.

“Server pet peeve: customers,” deadpans BlueIcicle (@blueicicle).

No one, it seems, feels bad for a server serving—not even her peers. “As a server I don’t give a singular gaf when people do this,” said Nicolette (@voxxy_x).

But the overwhelming sentiment seems to be the one articulated by CoCoChanel (@doralovingkitana), who said, “God forbid you have to do your job.”
