A woman named Paola Carita Gobel, also known as the “Catwoman” and “Criminal Barbie,” was arrested this week in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It is at least the second time the glamorous 32-year-old woman has been accused of burglary.

The “Catwoman” was arrested after renting a condo to steal from other luxury homes in the building. According to The Sun, police in Sao Paulo claim Paola Carita Gobel sneaks into luxury residential buildings, pretends to live there, then breaks in and steals money, jewelry, watches, perfumes, and designer handbags from homes in the buildings.

This isn’t the first time the notorious “Catwoman” has been caught burglarizing homes

Paola Carita Gobel was previously arrested in May 2023, according to Metropoles, for robbing luxury apartments in several states. She reportedly always committed the crimes dressed in black, this the “Catwoman” moniker.

The State Department of Criminal Investigations in Sao Paolo claimed then that she even took a locksmith course to be able to enter victims’ homes. When police released CCTV footage of her crimes, numerous local men were smitten by her attractiveness.

She was only caught then after police put her under surveillance and she went on the run. In that case, Paola Carita Gobel was only sentenced to community service and given a fine.

“She is already known for stealing from high-end residences,” Police chief Joao Prata said at the time. “We’ve tried to arrest her before. Unfortunately, we couldn’t.”

Paola Carita Gobel was arrested after a raid

Her latest arrest, on November 20, came after using a fake name to get in and out of the building, and providing police with a fake rental contract. She was charged with criminal association, vehicle identification tampering, intentional receipt of stolen goods, trespass, and use of false identities.

Police are now awaiting forensic analysis to unlock her and other suspects’ phones. Three men were also arrested in the raid, which also led to police finding drugs and a stolen vehicle in the building’s garage.
