‘John Calls Him Papa’: Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, And Domino’s Workers Are Having An Epic Internet Battle. Why Does Slim Jim Keep Showing Up In The Comments?

The internet is usually a flaming dumpster fire, but every now and again it delivers something so deliciously bonkers that your faith in humanity is restored. Like watching three pizza dough-slinging legends go full battle royale on TikTok. This saga spans across four pizza joints, has millions of views, and involves the verified Slim Jim TikTok account (yes, the spicy meat stick). It’s peak online culture. And we’re here for the chaos.

Four pizza chefs and high school buddies—TikTokers @misterd0ugh, @d0ughjoe, his twin @bartoli, and @doughjay1—have gone viral for their pizza-flinging style.

They twirl, fling, and throw pizza dough around in multiple hilarious and entertaining TikTok videos. Set to Rihanna’s “Umbrella” (what’s up, Tom Holland), or in @d0ughjoe’s case, “You Spin Me Round,” the dough goes over heads, under legs, and across shoulders. They’re not just stretching the dough; they’re expanding what’s possible in a pizza kitchen.

Each video is an exercise in one-upmanship. It’s also worth noting, they’re not the only ones engaging in the war—they’re just among the most popular. If you start watching, the algorithm will 100% feed you more pizza wars content.

Each of the pizza warriors is 100% committed to the bit. It’s not a one-off for any of them. Because though there’s clearly a huge sense of humor running through them, there’s also a lot of actual work.

Compulsively Watchable

Interestingly enough, one of the top comments on each video’s page is the verified Slim Jim TikTok account. The account comments stuff like “John calls him Papa” and “The Great Pizza Battle of ’25 is Upon Us.” Apparently whoever is running the account sees a real, um, brand alignment between pizza pie and smoked meat sticks.

Viewers were quick to notice.

“Slim Jim over here trying to cause beef, they are here for the drama,” said @mickey with crying-laughing emoji.

We’re pretty certain Slim Jim is just there to ramp up the chaos and for brand exposure. But, of course, it’s also possible the brand is planting seeds for a potential Slim Jim collab.

Slim Jim x Papa Johns or Slim Jim x Domino’s, anyone? (Think NikeCraft x Tom Sachs, but saucier).

Call Outs & Collabs

In his most recent video, Domino’s worker Jay Ragland (@doughjay1) takes direct aim at Papa Johns worker @d0ughjoe by tagging him in the caption. But it’s an earlier post, where Ragland sticks his whole head in an insulated pizza delivery bag and delivers a flawless performance to “Umbrella,” showing off just how tight his dough slinging is.

For Papa Johns worker Will White (@misterdough), a pro with six years of experience, that means mixing things up in the kitchen. The result? Things like a Chick-fil-A mac-n-cheese pizza, an Olive Garden Alfredo pizza, and the occasional red-top pizza (marinara layered on top of the cheese).

Even Pizza Hut entered the “war” in a lighthearted way. Over the caption “time for some pizza wars,” @joelcordero0 gets tricky with dough. But his TikTok video is watermarked with a Sora logo, indicating it’s AI-generated. He says he’s not trying to pull a fast one; he’s just trying to join the fun. “I saw these videos and thought they were amazing, and liked every one I saw. So I made one of myself with my AI video,” he wrote in the comments to the users shouting “disqualified.”

Of the pizza war backstory, @misterd0ugh told BroBible that he started creating these viral videos in late 2021.

“We originally made them for fun but then quickly realize this is the content people want to see! I’ve made a few Paid Papa Johns advertisements, which also motivated me even more to create viral videos,” he said.

Incidentally, he, @d0ughjoe, and @bartoli all went to high school together in Florida.

Makes you wonder what they’re teaching down in the Sunshine state.
