Rob Reiner, 78 years old, was an iconic Hollywood actor, writer, director, and producer, having directed beloved films such as Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, Misery, When Harry Met Sally, and A Few Good Men. Jake and Romy Reiner have released a statement on their brother Nick allegedly murdering their parents Rob Reiner and Michele Singer
“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends,” the statement reads.
“We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life,” the statement continues. “We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.”
Nick Reiner has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and is being held without bail. The 32-year-old reportedly stabbed his parents to death in their Brentwood home in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 14 — just hours after reportedly getting into a “loud fight” with them at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party.
On Wednesday, his attorney Alan Jackson made a statement following Reiner’s first court appearance.
“This is a devastating tragedy that has befallen the Reiner family. We all recognize that,” Jackson said.
“There are very, very complex and serious issues that are associated with this case. Those need to be thoroughly, but very carefully dealt with and examined and looked at and analyzed. We ask that during this process you allow the system to move forward in the way that it was designed to move forward — not with a rush to judgment, not with jumping to conclusions.”
Alan Jackson, defense attorney for Nick Reiner, delivered remarks after his client waived his right to a speedy arraignment.
