Reports indicate that late Hollywood fixture Rob Reiner and his son Nick — who is being held for the murder of Rob and his mother Michele Singer — got into a “very loud argument” at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party over the weekend.

On Sunday, Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer were found dead in their homes with their throats slit. Nick Reiner, 32 years old, was arrested Monday morning and booked for murder and is currently being held on $4 million bail.

Reiner was a writer, actor, director and producer best known for directing iconic films such as This Is Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, The Princess Bridge, MiseryWhen Harry Met Sally, and A Few Good Men.

Rob Reiner and wife Michele Singer reportedly got into a ‘very loud’ argument with their son Nick at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party days before they were murdered

“Rob Reiner, his wife Michele, and their son Nick attended Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party Saturday night. At the party, Rob and Nick got into a ‘very loud argument,’ loud enough for many others to hear … Reiner family sources tell TMZ. We’re told Rob and Michele then left the party. We do not know if Nick left as well.”

“Our family sources add … Michele had been anguishing to friends over the last few months that she and Rob were at their wits’ end over Nick’s mental illness and alleged substance abuse issues, and did not know what to do with their son Nick … saying, “We’ve tried everything.””

Strangely, Conan O’Brien had just gone viral on social media for the way he used humor to cope with the grief of his mother and father in December 2024.

According to police, officers had responded to a death investigation at the Reiners’ home in the upscale Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles around 3:40 p.m. local time on Sunday, December 14 and found two bodies, which would up being Reiner and Singer.

A source who spoke to the New York Times said that because of Nick Reiner’s history with drug abuse and homelessness, “the police focused almost immediately” on him as a suspect.

At this time, neither Nick Reiner nor a lawyer representing him have released a statement regarding his arrest and the alleged murder of his parents.
