Robots really are becoming lifelike these days. Proof of that is that they appear to hate their lives, just like real human beings do.
It makes sense, though. Despite jillions of warnings, scientists keep trying to make robots think and look like humans, so why shouldn’t they behave like one, too? After all, how fair would it be for robots to get all of the benefits of being human, and in many cases, super-human, without all of the angst and drama that also comes with being sentient?
Robots are not down with the 9-to-5 grind
Case in point: a robot recently decided it had had enough of being forced to entertain customers at a hot pot restaurant, reportedly in San Jose, California. And, really, who could blame it? Have you ever had to serve customers in a restaurant? It sucks. Plus, in this case, someone made the poor robot do it while wearing a stupid-looking apron with the words “I’M GOOD” emblazoned on it.
As video, which has gone viral, certainly shows, this robot is most definitely not “GOOD.”
While performing a little dance routine that it has probably had to do more than it can count, the robot begins to shatter plates, knock over tableware, and send food, chopsticks, utensils, and anything it can get its hands on flying.
Making the scene even more chaotic, it takes several restaurant workers to restrain the robot once it starts on its out-of-control tirade. Notice that while the workers bob and weave, trying to avoid the robot’s now food-covered hands, the digital smile on its face has disappeared.
Should shutting off the robot be that hard?
Another particularly troubling part of the wild scene is that the workers seem to have a very difficult time shutting the robot down. Apparently, there was no kill switch, and they had to use a phone app to stop it.
“This may be funny, but imagine when a whole army of armed robots start turning on their commanders!!” one person wrote in the comments of the video.
“If it was human they would have been fired, btw,” read another comment.
Luckily, no small children were injured, nor did any elderly women end up in the hospital. This time.
