Sabrina Carpenter and Dolly Parton have teamed up to release a new music video and version of Carpenter’s ‘Please, Please, Please‘ and the video pays homage to Sabrina’s original music video which featured her ex, Barry Keoghan, who is reported to have cheated on her. The video drops hints about Sabrina’s ex with a person wearing the same outfit Barry wore in the original music video handcuffed/tied up in the bed of a truck and calling for help.
The new ‘Please, Please, Please‘ music video with a country twang and slightly-cleaned up lyrics has exploded in popularity since Sabrina Carpenter and Dolly Parton dropped it late Thursday night, picking up over a million views while most people were sleeping. The release is part of Sabrina releasing a new ‘deluxe edition’ of her Short n’ Sweet album which seems like an oxymoron but hey, I wasn’t an English major.

Now for the Barry Keoghan explanation… In the original video, Sabrina Carpenter’s ex Barry Keoghan (Saltburn, The Banshees of Inisherin) plays the male lead where he and Sabrina are in a relationship but he goes to jail and then when he gets out he returns to his criminal ways so Sabrina locks him up with handcuffs and tape before leaving him in an empty warehouse. In the new Sabrina Carpenter x Dolly Parton music video for ‘Please, Please, Please‘ there’s a man in the bed of the truck wearing the same outfit Barry Keoghan was wearing in the original. He is tied up and gagged. And after Dolly Parton and Sabrina Carpenter evade the police they are laughing it up in the bed of the truck with ‘Muffled Screaming’ in the closed captions as the Barry Keoghan stand-in character remains locked up in th bed of the truck.
On Instagram, Sabrina shared how special this was for her. She wrote “Dolly and me singing in a pickup truck!!!!!! I am so honored to have one of my biggest idols on a song that means so much to me. Short n’ Sweet deluxe is out now! Go watch and listen!!!!”

Aesthetically, this is a match made in heaven. Two of the most iconic platinum blondes in the music industry together on a song. But where it gets interesting is earlier this week there were photos circulating of Sabrina Carpenter with dark hair. Dudes were straight-up losing their mind over Sabrina’s new look which you can see on X if you search ‘Sabrina Carpenter dark hair.’
One guy wrote “saw Sabrina Carpenter with black hair and almost had to call out of work.” At this point, it would seem as if the dark was was not promo for the Sabrina Carpenter x Dolly Parton music video and would suggest Carpenter has something else up her sleeves for the coming days.
