Sam Darnold got in trouble with Erin Andrews for spreading untrue rumors about Charissa Thompson. The gossip supposedly had to do with her dating life and personal affairs.
What a wild sequence of events!
Andrews and Thompson discussed the unusual saga during the latest episode of their ‘Calm Down’ podcast. They did not provide any additional context. Nor did they provide a general timeline.
As the story goes, Darnold told multiple people that Thompson hooked up with an unnamed person. She claims she did not hook up with said person.
[He] was spreading some rumors about me that I had dated some random — not dating — that I hooked up with this guy. And I was like, “I never hooked up with that guy, Sam Darnold, don’t you dare say that.”

His rumor made its way back to Thompson and Andrews, which led them to confront the NFL quarterback about his misinformation. It was actually the latter who got to him first.

That’s all we’ve got for now.
Darnold told people that Thompson hooked up with someone she did not hook up with and Andrews called him out for telling people something that wasn’t true. We don’t know who. We don’t know when.
However, Thompson is currently dating dating Steve Cundari and has been for at least 18 months. Matthew and Kelly Stafford actually set them up!
Knowledge of that relationship would put us back to March of 2023, when Darnold signed a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers. Assuming that he was spreading the aforementioned rumor throughout the locker room, he would’ve had to do so during the 2022 season as a member of the Carolina Panthers.
Unfortunately, a quick Google search of “Charissa Thompson dating rumors 2022” does not pull any pertinent information. We may never know who the man involved in the scuttlebutt might be.
We also don’t have a way of knowing if Sam Darnold was actually right. Maybe she is trying to keep it on the hush hush, but it certainly doesn’t seem that way. It sounds like an NFL quarterback was talking crazy about one of the most prominent voices in his sport and got called out for being wrong!
