Veteran television executives reportedly believe that The Today Show host Savannah Guthrie will never return to her post following the disappearance of her mother Nancy. Nancy has been missing and presumed to be abducted since February 1.
84-year-old Nancy Guthrie has been missing since February 1, 2026, after authorities say she was abducted from her home in the Tucson, Arizona area. Despite the week’s long investigation, however, a suspect has yet to be officially named in Nancy’s disappearance.
Regardless of how this nightmarish ideal turns out, however — with an unfortunate conclusion currently seeming like the most likely — “multiple TV veterans” have claimed that there’s “no way” Savannah Guthrie will return to The Today Show, where she has been a co-anchor since 2012.

“Multiple TV veterans told Status News that it’s doubtful she’ll ever return. ‘There’s no way Savannah’s coming back. I can’t imagine she would even want to.'”
“Everyone at Today is taking this day by day, and of course giving Savannah the grace, time and support she needs,” another source told the New York Post.
A doorbell camera at Guthrie’s home captured a masked man wearing gloves, a backpack, and a holstered gun tampering with the camera in the early hours of February 1. According to investigators, Guthrie’s pacemaker app lost contact shortly afterward and she was reported missing later that morning when she failed to show up for church.
Authorities later confirmed blood found on her front porch matched her DNA, and media outlets reported ransom-style letters with deadlines that have since passed, with a fourth alleged ransom letter being delivered to TMZ earlier this week.
