Academy Award nominated actress Scarlett Johansson is in talks to star alongside Robert Pattinson in The Batman: Part II, according to reports. The Batman: Part II is set to begin production next year.
While the official reports have not disclosed who Scarlett Johansson will be playing, rumors has suggested that she’s set to play a love intersest-turned-villain, which has led fans to believe she’s be playing Andrea Beaumont/Phantasm from the 1993 animated film Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.
Furthermore, it’s also been reported that Zoe Kravitz — who starred in The Batman as Selina Kyle/Catwoman — will not be returning for the sequel. Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell are all set to return, however, as Jim Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth and The Penguin, respectively.
Among Batman fans, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is widely considered to be one of the best Batman movies ever made — live-action, animated, or otherwise.
Scarlett Johansson is in ‘final talks’ to star alongside Robert Pattinson in The Batman Part II, which will begin filming next year
“Sources say the actress is in final negotiations to join The Batman Part II, the long-gestating sequel to Matt Reeves’ 2021 hit. If the deal comes together, it’d be a jolt for the project which aims to go before cameras next year. She will first film The Exorcist, to which she signed on last week, before moving on to Batman.”
“Johansson is one of the more bankable stars in the world, with her work in Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff in the MCU just part of her hits, which also include July’s Jurassic World: Rebirth. She also recently released her directorial debut, the low-key drama Eleanor the Great, starring June Squibb.” [via The Hollywood Reporter]
