A new biopic about former actor and late United States President Ronald Reagan certainly boasts an interesting cast, as it features Dennis Quiad as Reagan, Kevin Dillon (yes, the one from Entourage) as Jack L. Warner, Jon Voight as Viktor Petrovich, and more.

These casting choices, however, pale in comparison to who the producers and director chose to play Frank Sinatra, as Scott Stapp, the lead singer of Creed, is the one who plays the legendary crooner.

“‘Scott Stapp as Frank Sinatra’ feels like something you say before the doctor tells your family it spread to your brain,” one tweet joked.

“Got an ad for the Reagan movie so I looked it up and found out Scott Stapp is playing Frank Sinatra. I must now see this pile of s—,” quipped another.

Reagan is directed by Sean McNamara — who has previously helmed films such as Into the Blue 2: The Reef, Bring It On: Fight to the Finish, The Suite Life Movie, Soul Surfer, and more — and is based on the 2006 Paul Kengor book The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism.

Stapp’s casting as Sinatra, which will mark his feature film debut, was originally reported on back in 2020.

“We are honored to have Scott in Reagan,” McNamara said at the time of Stapp’s casting. “Scott’s known for big, high energy performances so it was a thrill to see him shift gears to embody Sinatra’s contained charisma.”
