Most of Seth Rogen’s movies over the years have been made for a very specific audience — an audience that both you and I have likely been or still are a part of today.
Seth Rogen having a comedic megaphone aimed at the ears of teenagers becomes all the more fascinating when you consider what he uses it for, particularly the 2016 animated comedy movie Sausage Party, which featured themes such as questioning religion and myth.
Speaking to Rogen and his Sausage Party: Foodtopia co-stars Kristen Wiig and Sam Richardson ahead of the series’ premiere on July 11, BroBible’s Post Credit Podcast asked Seth if it’s ever occurred to him that a movie as inherently absurd as Sausage Party has likely introduced some young people to certain weighty ideas — such as doubting religion — for the very first time.
To Wiig’s surprise, Rogen says that multiple people have come up to him over the years and said exactly that: Sausage Party made them question their religious upbringing.
“Yes!” an excited Rogen says. “Me and Evan [Goldberg, his producing partner] have had people come to us, in all earnestness, and tell us that the movie Sausage Party is what made them question their religious upbringing. It’s happened several times and it is f—— insane.”
