Legendary rapper Snoop Dogg has addressed the backlash he has received for performing at a Donald Trump inauguration event earlier this month. Snoop Dogg performed at the “Crypto Ball” on January 20 alongside fellow rappers such as Rick Ross and Nelly.

In a video posted to his Instagram account on Sunday, Snoop Dogg — who has reportedly lost over half-a-million followers on the social media platofrm in recent weeks — addressed the criticism he’s gotten from certain circles for performing at a Trump event after previously being an outspoken critic of the 45th and 47th President of the United States.

According to reports from the event, Snoop Dogg played hits such as Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” and Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds,” in addition to some of his own popular songs like “Drop It Like It’s Hot.”

“It’s Sunday I got gospel in my heart. For all the hate I’m going to answer with love, I love too much. Get your life right, stop worrying about mine. I’m cool. I’m together. Still a Black man. Still 100 percent Black. All out ’til you ball out or ’til you fall out,” Snoop said on Instagram Live.

Snoop Dogg’s stance on Donald Trump has clearly changed in recent years, as he previously went on an explicative rant about the President, saying in no uncertain that if you support him, you’re racist.

“I don’t give a f—. I tell ’em straight up, motherf—–. If you like that n—-, you motherf—— racist. F— you and f— him. Now what? He drew the lines. Before him, there were no lines. Everybody was everybody, we respected everything, we didn’t trip,” he said in 2018. “When you drew the line and start pointing motherf—— out and singling them out, f— y’all then, n—–. You and them. Kanye too. Don’t forget about him too. F— you too. Throw him in the bag, he right with them motherf——.”

Snoop made a similarly strong statement in the lead up to the 2020 election, saying he was voting for the first time in his life in order to get Trump out of office.

“I ain’t never voted a day in my life, but this year I think I’m going to get out and vote because I can’t stand to see this punk in office one more year,” he said while appearing on the radio show Big Boy’s Neighborhood on Real 92.3.

Last year, however, the famed rapper began to radically change his tune on Trump, completely pivoting from his previous opinion.

“Donald Trump? He ain’t done nothing wrong to me. He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris. So I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump,” Snoop told The Sunday Times in 2024.

Snoop Dogg’s new tune about Trump follows a similar trend of the rich and elite of the country getting more in line and behind the Trump administration the second time around, as multiple tech CEO billionaires — Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, Tim Cook, TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai — were in attendance at the inauguration, even being given better seats than the incoming cabinet. Snoop has a reported net worth of about $150 million.
