The first official teaser for Prime Video’s live action Spider-Noir series has been released. Academy Award winning actor Nicolas Cage stars in the series as Ben Reilly/The Spider, a private investigator in 1930s New York City.

Spider-Noir, which sees Nicolas Cage reprise his role as the character after voicing him in the animated Spider-Verse movies, will be released globally on Prime Video on Wednesday May 27.

The series appears to be both unique and authentic, as it is leaning into a true noir tone that’s rarely seen in Hollywood these days as it’s since been replaced by neo-noir, which had its rise fueled by films such as Roman Polanski’s Chinatown (1974), Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver (1976), Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner (1982), and David Lynch’s Blue Velvet (1986), and has continued to this day with both auteurs such as Denis Villeneuve and David Fincher, and massive franchises like John Wick and The Batman.

Oscar winner Nicolas Cage stars as Ben Reilly/The Spider in the first official teaser trailer for Prime Video’s Spider-Noir

According to Prime Video, “the series is based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir and follows Ben Reilly (Cage), a seasoned and down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York. Reilly is forced to grapple with his past life, following a deeply personal tragedy, as the city’s one and only superhero.”

While Spider-Noir will be staying true to its noir roots by being streamed in black-and-white, a color version of the series will also be available when it debuts.

In addition to Cage, the cast includes Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson, Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy, Karen Rodriguez as Janet, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, and Academy Award nominee Brendan Gleeson as the villain Silvermane.

Spider-Noir is one of two live action Spider-Man projects released in 2026, as Spider-Man: Brand New Day — the fourth film in the Sony/MCU co-produced franchise — will be released in movie theaters on July 31.
