‘Spirit Has No Business Judging ANYONE’: California Woman Demands Answers After Learning She’s No Longer Allowed To Dress Comfortably For Flights On Delta, Spirit

A California woman checked Spirit Airlines’ policy and learned there’s now a shocking dress code. Viewers are split on the growing trend of airlines asking customers to dress up for their flights in the now-viral video.

In a video with over 722,000 views, TikToker Maya Isabelle (@mayaslife.04) says she feels like she was “living under a rock” after learning about new airline dress codes.

“They’re lowkey insane. Why did I just read that Delta and Spirit will kick you off the flight, no refund, if you have a crop top on? Or if you’re wearing flip-flops,” she says in the clip. “And they don’t want us wearing pajamas or sweats.”

She jokes that airlines shouldn’t impose such strict dress codes on passengers traveling in a “tin can in the sky.”

“I’m sorry, but if I have a 6-hour flight, I’m wearing sweats. I’m wearing pajamas,” she insists.

How Did Viewers React To The Warning?

In the comments, many viewers lamented that they shouldn’t have to dress up—especially on a budget airline such as Spirit.

“I’m sorry but if they want us to look more ‘high class,’ they need to give us a ‘high class’ experience. Like these seats are too small to not be comfortable,” one wrote.

Another commented, “Hello? Like is it a roller coaster or something? That doesn’t make any sense.”

Others agreed with stricter dress codes on flights.

“Call me weird. But I have never flown in flip flops, crop tops, pjs, or sweat pants. Even non stop flights from west coast USA to Asia or Europe/Uk. I fail to really see an issue here,” a viewer remarked.

“Flip flops are valid the amount of people who take them off and wear them barefoot on the plane are insane,” a second said.

The TikToker posted a follow-up video pushing back on the flip-flop ban, insisting that socks are more likely to make feet stink. “At least when you’re wearing flip flops, they’re airing out,” she says.

“We have no one to blame but ourselves. I fly a lot. 90 flights a year. Some of the things people wear on a plane and their personal hygiene. Yes. Give me rules, please,” another shared.

Does Spirit, Delta Airlines Actually Have A Dress Code?

Some airlines updated their dress code policies in 2025 to provide clearer guidelines to travelers planning their airport outfits. However, they’re not as strict as some social media users might suggest.

Spirit updated its dress code in early 2025, according to ABC5. This prohibited passengers from wearing offensive or revealing clothing, including flip-flops and see-through or overly low-cut items. The dress code can be enforced at the airline staff’s discretion.

According to CBS Miami, one woman was not allowed to board her Spirit Airlines flight because she was wearing spandex shorts and a crop top.

Delta Airlines has a similar dress code that requires customers to wear shoes at all times on the flight and to be fully clothed, without offensive or overly revealing outfits.

However, neither airline explicitly bans sweats or pajamas, as the TikToker previously suggested.
