27 Years After First Debuting On ‘Family Guy’, Stewie Griffin Is Getting A Spin-Off Show

Fox

27 years after Family Guy first premiered on Fox, the series has announced a spin-off series centered around the popular character of Stewie Griffin. Fox is aiming to premiere the series, aptly titled Stewie, during the 2027-28 season, before it begins streaming the next day on Hulu.

According to reports, the series — which will have a bit of a Rick & Morty set-up as it will “explore time and space travel” — will center on Stewie enrolling in a new preschool after getting kicked out of his old one. Stewie’s new school is “attended by a handful of kids he doesn’t know, and a 75-year-old class turtle with a half-cocked theory on just about every subject.”

Family Guy spin-off centered on Stewie Griffin going to a new pre-school and “exploring time and space travel” set to premiere in 2027

“Stewie’s miserable, the other kids are miserable, and even the turtle is miserable… until Stewie begins rolling out his trusty array of devices to take them anywhere in space and time, turning every boring day at school into an insane and surreal adventure,” reports Deadline.

“I’d like to thank Fox for this incredible opportunity, and I’m excited to start pretending I’m collaborating closely with them on the show,” famed created Seth MacFarlane said in a statement.

Stewie will not interfere with the character’s role on the mainline Family Guy series, with reports indicating that the Brian the dog character will also make some appearances in the spin-off. It’s not the first spin-off to spawn from Family Guy, though, as The Cleveland Show premiered in 2009 and ran for four seasons.
