Netflix has released a documentary about the production of Stranger Things‘ final season that, in the wake of the visceral and widely-aghast reaction to the series finale, has done more harm than good, as it has made the streamer and series creators Ross and Matt Duffer look worse, not better.
According to Netflix, the documentary, titled One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, is “an inside look at the years of effort and craft that went into the final installment of the Duffer Brothers’ generation-defining series.”
To fans, however, the documentary is more of a showcase of the series of baffling decisions that went into crafting a final season of a popular TV series that’s being compared to that of Game of Thrones’: a total disaster.

“$400 mil dollar budget just to have two chatgpt tabs open while theyre script writing,” one viral tweet said.
“No way Netflix greenlit this documentary where the Duffers keep repeating they’re clueless. I don’t buy it. This is very sus,” read another.
“imagine having the worst series finale of all times after game of thrones and then publishing a documentary that documents you didn’t know s— while filming or writing the season I’M CRYING,” was a third.
“This is s so funny because wdym you made one of the most garbage seasons in the history of modern television, and then MADE A WHOLE DOCUMENTARY about it to embarrass yourselves more,” added a fourth.

The Stranger Things finale has been so poorly received, in fact, that a swath of hardcore fans began believing a conspiracy theory called “Conformity Gate” that proposed a “secret” ninth episode would be released on Netflix sometime after the actual series finale (episode 8 of season 5). That, of course, never came to pass.
