A second batch of episodes from the final season of Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things were released over the holidays and have been given the modern television kiss of death: it’s being compared to the final season of Game of Thrones (and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, for good measure).
While Game of Thrones was once considered one of the greatest TV shows ever made, its final season was so widely reviled that it now serves as its primary legacy: people rarely remember its glory days and scoff in disgust whenever it’s mentioned.
The final season of Stranger Things is getting slaughtered on social media and compared to the likes of Game of Thrones and The Rise of Skywalker
Unfortunately for Netflix, it appears that Stranger Things is headed in the same direction, as the fifth and final season has been largely rejected by fans, with these latest episodes being the most unpopular yet.

“Most of Stranger Things season 5 is someone explaining a plan in a quippy manner and everyone calling it insane,” one viral tweet summarized.
“I went into Stranger Things 5 wondering whether it’d be closest to Season 1 or Season 3 in terms of quality, and now I’m trying to work out whether it’s closer to Game of Thrones Season 8 or The Rise of Skywalker,” another said.
“Stranger Things is on its way to becoming the new Game of Thrones,” a third warned.
“I’VE WATCHED P— WITH BETTER WRITING THAN STRANGER THINGS!” a fourth joked.
“Stranger Things entering that Game of Thrones/Taylor Swift tier of having been bad for a number of years but mass recognition of that hits suddenly like revelation.”
One scene that’s been receiving particular criticism is the one in which Will Byers comes out to basically the entire cast.
