Everyone loves the kids from Stranger Things, but with the world watching their every move, there is plenty of chances for them to ruin their great reputations. It appears the first Stranger Things kid to get negative publicity is Gaten Matarazzo. That is because he has a new Netflix prank show that tricks people who are looking for a job. Why Gaten? Just why?
On Friday, it was announced that Matarazzo would star in a new Netflix series called Prank Encounters. “Each episode of this terrifying and hilarious prank show takes two complete strangers who each think they’re starting their first day at a new job,” reads a Netflix press release. “It’s business as usual until their paths collide and these part-time jobs turn into full-time nightmares.”

“Hey Tim, you know that dream job you thought you just got? The one you told all of your family and friends, then bought a new car for your new commute cuz your old jalopy always broke down? SIKE!!! There is no job!!! This is Prank Encounters and you’ve just been Matarazzo’d!!!”
Fooling people who are down on their luck and desperate to get a new job and then crushing their dreams for the LoLs on a prank TV show wasn’t welcomed with open arms when Gaten tweeted out the news of his upcoming endeavor. Despite Netflix ordering eight episodes of the hidden-camera prank series, many people were already calling for it to be canceled without one episode even airing.
great, something else for the unemployed to worry about. 🙄

I'd hope there is already a statement being put out about how fucked up this idea is and they were sorry that it was even an idea. Take the L pic.twitter.com/XdW5o6TNcH

This is so, so harmful. DO NOT DO THIS SHOW. It targets people who are already having a hard time in a way that can specifically make their situation worse. Please learn to have empathy for others.

At the time of publication, there were over 1,200 comments, a majority saying that this was a very bad idea. Gaten is only 16-years-old, where are the Netflix executives or his agent to step in and say what a terrible idea this is?
Maybe Gaten was better off being typecast as “one of the Stranger Things kids” and not the kid who tricked adults that they had a job when they didn’t for a prank show. The show will reportedly air in late 2019 if it isn’t canceled by Monday morning.
