Warner Bros. and DC Studios have released the official trailer for Super/Man, the upcoming documentary about late Superman actor Christopher Reeve.

Reeve iconically portrayed Clark Kent in four Superman movies from 1978 to 1987 before being tragically paralyzed from the neck down after an equestrian accident. Nearly 40 years since the release of Reeve’s final Superman film, the actor’s portrayal is still considered to be the best in the history of the character.

According to the producers of the film, Super/Man is a “moving retelling” of Reeve’s story and features “never-before-seen intimate home movies and an extraordinary trove of personal archive material, as well as the first extended interviews ever filmed with Reeve’s three children about their father, and interviews with the A-list Hollywood actors who were Reeve’s colleagues and friends.”

Super/Man will be playing in movie theaters for two days only: Saturday, September 21 and Wednesday, September 25.

You can watch the official trailer for Super/Man, directed by McQueen filmmakers Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, below.

Here is the official synopsis for Super/Man, via DC Studios:

“The story of Christopher Reeve is an astonishing rise from unknown actor to iconic movie star, and his definitive portrayal of Clark Kent/Superman set the benchmark for the superhero cinematic universes that dominate cinema today. Reeve portrayed the Man of Steel in four Superman films and played dozens of other roles that displayed his talent and range as an actor, before being injured in a near-fatal horse-riding accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down.”

“After becoming a quadriplegic, he became a charismatic leader and activist in the quest to find a cure for spinal cord injuries, as well as a passionate advocate for disability rights and care – all while continuing his career in cinema in front of and behind the camera and dedicating himself to his beloved family.”

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn took to social media to heap praise on the film, saying that Super/Man is “a powerful and incredibly moving film that I can’t recommend enough.”

Gunn, of course, is directing the latest Superman film, which will be released in theaters in July 2025 and looks to be far more in the vein of Reeve’s Superman than Henry Cavill’s.
