Reports indicate that actress Sydney Sweeney has been offered over $60 million to star in a Bollywood (India’s version of Hollywood) film. $61 million would easily be the most an American actress has ever been paid for a singular role.
Bollywood taking a shot at Sydney Sweeney certainly isn’t beyond reason, however, as the 2y-year-old has shown that she’s willing to eschew A-list actress norms and work with essentially any brand that forks up the cash, from selling soaps with Dr. Squatch to jeans with American Eagle to ice cream with Baskin Robbins.
Indian movie producers reportedly planning to offer Sydney Sweeney about $60 million to star in a movie
According to reports from The Sun, an Indian production company has outlined a deal for Sweeney that would see her paid $48 million to star in the film and $13 million for additional sponsorship agreements (the total sum being £40 million).
The project would apparently see Sweeney star as “a young American star who falls in love with an Indian celebrity,” with “filming is pencilled in to take place early next year in locations including New York, Paris, London and Dubai.”
“Sydney was shocked by the offer at first, £45million is an incredible sum. But the project is intriguing, and it could elevate her global profile even further. The Indian film industry is powerful and growing, and this movie is designed to bring its productions to the international market. Nothing has been decided yet, but it’s a huge opportunity and Sydney is weighing her options carefully. Money isn’t everything, and she has many projects lined up, but this could push her to new limits as an actress.” [via The Sun]
While Sandra Bullock reportedly made about $70 million on the 2013 Gravity, she earned $20 million up front and the other $50 million from a clause in her contract that gave her 15% of box office revenue.
Sweeney is in the midst of a year that will see her star in a whopping five feature films. So far, the Euphoria breakout star has featured in the AppleTV+ film Echo Valley, Americana, and Eden (the latter of the two being massive bombs at the box office).
Then, this fall, she’ll be starring in the Christy Martin boxing biopic Christy, followed by the Paul Feig-directed adaption of The Housemaid, which will be released on Christmas Day.
As for Sweeney’s future films, she’s currently attached to project such as Gundam, Split Fiction, I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl, Scandalous!, a remake of Barbarella, and more. The third and final season of HBO’s hit series Euphoria is also set to be released sometime next year, reportedly in the spring.
