Sydney Sweeney’s Boxing Movie ‘Christy’ Has Set An All-Time Record, Albeit A Very Bad One

Sydney Sweeney’s boxing biopic Christy, after suffering from a bottom 10 opening weekend for a movie that was released in at least 2,000 theaters, set another dubious record in its second weekend in theaters.

According to reports, after making about $1.2 million in its debut weekend, Sydney Sweeney’s new movie Christy made just $108,000 in its second weekend, which represents a 92% decline from the box office sales of the first weekend. This represents the worst second-weekend box office drop for a wide release of all time.

Sydney Sweeney’s Christy made just $108,000 in its second weekend in theaters, a 92% drop from its debut weekend, which is the worst drop of all-time

Christy had the worst second-weekend drop for a wide release in box-office history, earning only $108K this past weekend — a 92% decline,” according to World of Reel.

Given the performance of Christy — and her previous two theatrical releases, Eden and Americana, with the three combined now projected to make less than $5 million — Sweeney now finds herself in a position where she needs her next project to be a hit.

Luckily for her, she’ll next be seen starring in The Housemaid alongside Amanda Seyfried, which is an adaptation of a popular thriller novel that’s directed by Paul Feig and set to be released on Christmas Day.

The Housemaid is also a far more mainstream project than Christy, Eden and Americana, and thus should provide better insight into what her current box office draw is. Sweeney only has one theatrical hit in her career thus far, and that was the 2023 rom-com Anyone But You.

Anyone But You, however, co-starred Glen Powell, who has since become a mega-star, and therefore, makes the film look more like *his* vehicle than *hers* with each passing box office bomb she has.
