Sydney Sweeney presented an award at the Emmys earlier this month, putting her in a room alongside some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. According to reports, however, Sweeney wasn’t the “most popular” person there due to recent events surrounding her personal life.
Earlier this year, Sydney Sweeney featured in a new ad campaign for American Eagle, which turned into a politically-charged controversy that made it’s way all the way to the White House.
“Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the ‘HOTTEST’ ad out there. It’s for American Eagle, and the jeans are ‘flying off the shelves.’ Go get ‘em Sydney!” Trump posted on social media in early August.
Alleged source says Sydney Sweeney felt ostracized at the “too woke” Emmy Awards
In a report from The Sun, alleged sources indicate that Sweeney’s political controversies, combined with her reported new relationship with controversial manager and record executive Scooter Braun, left Sweeney feeling ostracized at the Emmy Awards, which she also felt was “too woke” despite presenting an award.
“She felt like the whole of the Emmys was very woke, and it was awkward for her – she’s made no secret about where she stands politically, but she’s not going to shout it from the rooftops. Hollywood still loves her – she was picked to present an award, but the feeling backstage was she was a bit out of place and looking a little lost. She certainly wasn’t the most popular girl there, like she’s used to,” an apparent inside source told the UK’s The Sun.
“There are whispers that some of her peers are taking a step back from their friendships with her – there’s just too much controversy around her at such a politically tense time.”
Sweeney will next be starring in the sports biopic drama Christy, which is about the life and career of women’s boxing legend Christy Martin. Then, in December, she’ll be starring in the thriller The Housemaid alongside Amanda Seyfried.
