Sydney Sweeney’s latest movie, her first since starring in a jeans campaign for American Eagle, has bombed at the box office. According to reports, the film, Americana, made just $500,000 nationwide in its opening weekend in movie theaters.

Despite solid reviews from critics, a recent study showing that most people weren’t offended by American Eagle’s “Great Jeans” campaign, and the right — with the likes of President Trump and the official White House Twitter account promoting her — celebrating her as their new anti-woke hero, neither of those factors were able to save Americana at the box office.

In addition to Sydney Sweeney, Americana, which was directed by Tony Tost, also stars Paul Walter Hauser, Halsey, Eric Dane, Zahn McClarnon, and Simon Rex.

Americana — starring Sydney Sweeney opposite Paul Walter Hauser and Halsey — is bombing in its nationwide debut in 1,123 theaters. $500,000 from 1,123 theaters means the film made about $445 in ticket sales per theater.

Sweeney has another movie right around the corner as the Ron Howard directed Eden — which she stars in alongside Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, Jude Law and Daniel Bruhl — will be releasing on Friday, August 22. Similar to Americana, however, Eden has taken a while to reach movie theaters and has had minimal marketing, suggesting another bomb could be on the horizon for Sweeney.

Later this year, she’ll hope to re-establish herself as a box office draw — which, so far, she’s only proven she could do in Anyone But You — with the Paul Feig-directed adaptation of the best selling thriller novel The Housemaid, which hits theaters on Christmas day.
