Sydney Sweeney says that TikTok pushes content that hates on her to the top of her feed, and that her account is “full of hate” towards her. The forlorn-sounding Sweeney made the comments while hooked up to a lie detector test.

While out on the promotional trail for her new film The Housemaid, Sydney Sweeney and co-star Amanda Seyfried stopped by Vanity Fair to do their lie-detector test interview, which saw the pair asking questions while the other was hooked up to a polygraph machine.

During the conversation, the topic of TikTok came up, and Sweeney said that when she’s on her private account, her feed (For You page) is primarily “history facts and arts & crafts,” but when she’s on her public Syd’s Garage account, what she primarily sees is “sadly a lot of hate about me” — which, more than anything, speaks to the insidiousness of social media content algorithms.

Sweeney and Seyfriend will be co-starring in The Housemaid, which will be hitting movie theaters in the United States on Christmas Day. Directed by Bridesmaids and The Heat director Paul Feig, The Housemaid is an adaptation of the best-selling 2022 thriller novel written by Freida McFadden, and co-stars , Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, and Elizabeth Perkins alongside Sweeney and Seyfried.

Early box office reporting suggests The Housemaid could open to $12-$15 million, which would be a massive career boost for Sweeney as her last three releases made less than $5 million combined during the entirety of their runs.

You can check out the official trailer for The Housemaid, releasing on Thursday, December 25, below.
