‘That’s Like $20 Of Bread’: Florida Texas Roadhouse Server Charges Customers For Asking For Way Too Much Bread. But Isn’t It Unlimited?

A Florida Texas Roadhouse server says her table ordered a ridiculous amount of bread. She charged them for it to try to “make more,” but her plan quickly backfired.

TikToker Kenzie Taylor (@kenzietaylor161) says a table in her section ordered 11 baskets of Texas Roadhouse’s famous bread rolls.

“That’s 44 pieces of bread,” she says in a video with over 34,000 views. “I was just wondering, they haven’t left yet. Should I charge them for bread?”

She says that she could put in a charge by the dozen, saying it would be around $20 of bread.

“If I did charge them, I would make more,” she says, implying that the charge could give her a higher tip if based on a percentage of the final bill.

At the end of the clip, she notes that she did decide to charge the table for just one dozen bread rolls.

“But they paid me in cash, so I would have made more in tips if I didn’t charge them,” she laments.

Is Bread At Texas Roadhouse Actually Unlimited?

Texas Roadhouse is well-known for its complimentary, unlimited rolls when dining in. However, many customers say some locations are switching up their policy.

One Texas-based Facebook user says a charge was added to their bill after they put a couple of rolls in the box with their unfinished meal when dining in person.

Another Reddit user on r/TexasRoadhouse claims that their table of three was only allowed two baskets of rolls. They asked for a third basket but were seemingly ignored. When they asked to take rolls home because their third order never arrived, the server said it was against the location’s policy.

Many locations also charge a to-go fee of around $5 to $8 per dozen for rolls.

How Did Viewers React To The Charge?

In the comments, viewers are split on Taylor’s decision to charge for the bread. Some agree that 11 baskets are excessive and agree with the tacked-on charge.

“Girl I would be pissed too. They deserve to get charged since they want to be freaking big backs coming in to eat that much d— bread. And if this offends you, then you are that big back mf,” one remarked.

Another said, “That’s an excessive amount of bread, definitely charge them.”

However, others disagree with her charging them in an attempt to get a higher tip. They point out that there’s no consistent policy on whether bread is unlimited, which could frustrate customers.

A commenter wrote, “I would be so mad if I was charged for rolls at a place where rolls are unlimited and free as long as you dine in.”

“OK, the biggest problem here is that you’re trying to decide whether you should charge them based off of your gain. Instead you should be deciding based off of the company policy,” a second suggested.

“You might not make more. If you are making up a policy without telling them, they will likely reduce the tip,” a third said.
