Texas Roadhouse’s signature rolls are a fan favorite among Roadies. Baked from scratch every five minutes, the rolls are soft and warm that melt in the mouth, a popular highlight of the dining experience. In fact, some visit the restaurant just to chow down on the rolls. The thought of altering them likely doesn’t even come across most customers’ minds.
Except for one customer, who prefers his rolls grilled. You read that right. Grilled rolls are a “secret menu” item you can get at the steakhouse chain.
In his video, Maryland-based TikTok creator and pastor Keenan Roberts (@pastorkeenan) sits inside a Westminster Texas Roadhouse with his wife, Anj, who is sitting across the table from him, holding a roll.
“Did you know, of course, you can get the regular rolls here at Texas Roadhouse,” he says, filming her as she pulls the bread apart and carefully places it on her plate. Then, he pans the camera to a separate plate with two rolls. Each roll is sliced in half, and she showcases that the sliced portion appears toasted. “Or you can request that they grill the rolls. Check that out,” he continues.
In the caption, the content creator praises, “They were sensational!”
What Did Viewers Think Of The Hack?
Roberts’ video amassed 3.5 million views, garnering both compliments and criticism. Detractors questioned why Roberts would mess with a good thing. Others wanted to try out this apparent menu hack for themselves.
“Why did no one tell us this was a thing until now,” one viewer commented.
“Not all heroes wear capes. I salute you, sir,” another stated.
“They are perfect the way they are,” a third argued.
“No. Leave the rolls the way god intended them to be. Fluffy and warm,” a fourth remarked.

Is This Possible?
However, an alleged former Texas Roadhouse employee warned of the likelihood of scoring these specialty rolls, saying such a request may end up causing problems for the staff. “I used to work for Texas Roadhouse. You can request it, they do not have to accept that request and if it’s during rush 9 times out of 10 that request is gonna get your server yelled at by the entire line,” they shared.
Indeed, this seems to be true. Chowhound shared that while it is possible to have the rolls toasted, it isn’t a guarantee, as it’s largely dependent on the location and the server. To increase your chances of scoring “grilled” or toasted rolls, politely request it during the least busy time, which would be between lunch and dinner.
If you decide to try this hack out for yourself, keep in mind results may vary.
