Ordering takeout nowadays is not cheap and is often viewed as a small luxury. Even fast food is starting to fall into that bracket. What used to mean a quick meal for a few dollars is now almost in line with what you would pay at a casual dining spot.
Data from FinanceBuzz shows that from 2014 to 2024, average fast-food menu prices climbed between 39% and 100% across major chains, all increases that outpaced the overall inflation rate of 31% during that same period.
Experts point to several reasons for the surge, including the pandemic, rising labor costs, and higher supply chain expenses. No matter the cause, customers are definitely noticing.

That is what one Texas woman says happened to her after she ordered a brisket sandwich from Buc-ee’s.
Buc-ee’s Brisket Sandwich Is ‘Absolutely Disgusting,’ Customer Claims
TikTok creator @rrositaafresita shares a short clip showing what she finds inside her Buc-ee’s brisket sandwich. The video pulled in more than 54,400 views and drew a flood of reactions from other customers who claim they have run into similar problems.
In the text overlay, she explains what made her stop eating. “The meat in my buccees brisket sandwich looked odd,” she wrote. “Decided to rinse the BBQ off and this is what I saw.”
She then picks up several pieces of the washed brisket. The meat appears in thick, uneven chunks with heavy fat throughout. What stands out most is the color inside, which still looks very pink.
The color and texture shown in the video differ from how brisket usually appears once cooked. Traditional brisket cooks low and slow for a long time, often an hour to an hour and a half per pound. That process breaks down tough connective tissue and gives the meat its soft texture and darker, uniform color.
It could be that the sandwich uses a different cut of beef, it spent far less time on the heat, or Buc-ee’s relies on a faster cooking method altogether. BroBible has reached out to Buc-ee’s via email to find out more.
